Quilt for Avani

            

This appliqué quilt was made for my niece Swathi's baby, Avani. The pattern is from the set of large drawings that Usha made for me. I traced the birds and water onto freezer paper, and that ensured that the cloth I cut had neat edges. This was a real quick quilt. I used some Mangalgiri fabric for the backing with only a thin layer of fabric as batting.
