Cat quilt - Aranya

My little friend Aranya in Bangalore has been wanting a quilt with at least one cat on it. I came across a beautiful one of cats on rooftops, and have happily used the design - thank you to marty (http://martysfibermusings.blogspot.in/2010/02/stairway-to-cat-heaven.html).

The quilt measures 4 ft x 6 ft and has polyfill inside - adding to the soft feel that the light mauve and purple exude. I had made some red/pink blocks too but with feedback from ravi and kanishk, a lot of the blocks got rejected. Those blocks will probably go into another bright quilt. I am glad I didn't use them - this looks so nice now.

I did some basic quilting over the moon and the buildings, and finally it looks like i am going to be able to get to actually do machine quilting without everything bunching up.

Aranya is going to love this bright cover with the ikat cat - took me all of 15 minutes to make :)

I started with machine quilting on the back of the apartments and that came out ok. then even the quilting on the moon came out neat, and i decided not to push my luck by quilting too much more.

the pics below are of the paper cat on the roof tops - was doing the placing before actually working with the fabric cats, and loved this process.
