September quilt - Shashank

this month, i will start shashank's map quilt - a daunting task though i am sure i will love every moment of it.  because i was very sure this would not finish this month, i worked super-fast on another one - also for shashank. this is to provide the backing for an ancient pieced sheet (i cannot give it the honour of being called a quilt) - i did the ohio star block pattern that he had been asking for, in blue and white, with the full knowledge that the blue would probably bleed. it has just survived its first soaking so shall now hope for the best. shashank has no clue that i have been working on this, so i am looking forward to his being really surprised when he sees it on wednesday at home.

this is the back - the cloth has become really weak and i can't see it lasting very long - have added patches in a couple of places, but have decided to not quilt too much over it. has been around for at least 10 years i think, and has travelled everywhere with shashank so....
