August quilt
i have been so busy quilting and crocheting (and working - more and more as the days go by, sigh!!) that i didn't realise i hadn't posted my work onto my blog. my august quilt has been one of my most fun ones - more for the process rather than the actual product. i hand-pieced all the hexagons for my mother's quilt, while my mother (my audio book as i call her now!) read out from two wonderful historical/romance tamil novels - sivakamiyin sabatham and parthiban kanavu - over 1400 pages, and the end of the quilt almost coincided with the end of the reading. will always treasure the memory of those days - such peace and tranquility really.
the final product is beautiful, though i wish i had taken a bit more care about the colours for the hexagons. i managed to go through a lot of the prints in my stash while making my mother's quilt - the interesting part is that a lot of these prints also show up in her granddaughters' quilts. the backing for this two-layered quilt is a pretty printed sheet, and i've done the quilting by hand so am truly proud of the end-result.
