Tablecloth - in progress

i've started making a tablecloth with off-white crochet thread from anchor. shashank got the first 10 balls.  the design i picked is called snowdrop. the pieces get added on continuously, instead of needing to be pieced together later, which is great.  the first ball of thread ran out after 12 pieces and i calculated that i'd need a total of 1260 pieces to make a 5 x7 tablecloth.

i wrote to the coats india office asking for help in procuring 100 more balls of this thread, as the one shop i know in guntur did not have even a single ball of this type of thread. yesterday, after phone calls and emails back and forth, i was thrilled to receive the consignment of 10 boxes of thread for my tablecloth. now have started crocheting this at a furious pace - will probably finish it in the next 6 months!!

  2. this is coming along beautifully, sandhya! you sure have patience. do you use an ergonomic crochet hook? you know, the ones which have a thick handle below the neck so that your grip is not too cramped? you must squeeze a tennis ball to exercise your hand :-)

  3. thanks. have now made 50 pieces of the 1260 :-) ergonomic hooks sound terrific - i didn't even know they existed! will start hunting online as i don't expect to find them in guntur. thanks to a niece in abu dhabi, i have a full set of hooks. i love the fibre-glassish ones i see in videos but have no clue as to where to find them. also hunting for wooden ones, just to keep.
